Travel writers often paint Cuba as a place where time has stopped.
I do not agree.
I think that in Cuba, time has not stopped, but it only got diverted a little. It found the hidden alleys of life, replete with sensual abundance and ostentatious beauty, to flow at its own pace, never losing alacrity in its march to the future. The time here has a different, and I would dare to say, real value. It is devoid of Facebook or Twitter type of socializing, speed dating or strict business deadlines. It is not necessary. Real human interaction and friendly touch is all the schedule one needs in this land of glorious architecture, half a century old American cars, or horse ridden taxis swaying to the rhythms of salsa and a warm Caribbean breeze. All one needs to do to feel the pulse of this fascinating island is to stop, sit down, and watch the world go by. You will feel that the time becomes your friend, your soul mate, gently caressing your soul and awakening your senses as you become one with your surroundings… Dare to dream?
